Brilliant Bassett

Another decent day for us today with a profit from both our account bets.
First up was Wootton Bassett, 4pt win @ 7/4.
2/1 was available with Paddy Power but as they were a standout price only a few would have been able to get on so it wouldn't be right to record that price in our results.
Wootton Bassett has continued to improve and was fancied to keep his unbeaten run today on the way to much better things next season.
There was a huge gamble right into 5/4 at the off. 11/4 was available for small bets in a place last night.

Come race time he bounced out well and was always well up there. He was pushed into the lead around halfway and although joined by the very impressive runner up, Galtymore Lad, he went away to win by almost 2 lengths.
The runner up, Galtymore Lad should be kept in the notebook as this was a very good performance to get so close to Wootton Bassett who is a serious racehourse.

Our second bet was in the very next race.
Rimth, 1pt e/w @ 10/1 had only had one race which she won and suffered some minor setbacks since that win. She took a while to get the hang of things in that race and had tons of improvement to come.
She was finally back to her best at home and it was thought she may be able to spring a surprise today in a race that had a great each way look about it.

Fortunately, all 8 runners went to post. Rimth was very well backed into 4/1 at the off.
She ran pretty green throughout and was covered up early. She stayed on well inside the final furlong to take 3rd place, never looking likely to catch the winner, Hooray.
A small profit on the race and 8 points profit on the day.

We are now just over 30 points in profit for August.

We were close to a bet in the big race of the day and if so we would have backed Sariska.
Anyone who watched the race will know she refused to race as soon as the stalls opened. She just stood there.
Some days we pick the right ones for account bets, some days we don't. Today was definately the former!

There is a good word for Head Waiter in the 7.40 at Killarney tonight. Not strong enough for an account bet but worth a mention for anyone who reads this.

There will probably be an account bet tomorrow but not for certain at this stage.
