More seconditis

Frustrating day today with two account bets.

First up we had Dream Win, 3pt win @ 4/1.
Thought to come on lots for his latest win, especially with the step up in trip. The main concern was if he would stay the extra 2 furlongs.
He was ridden with the emphasis on getting the trip, being held up at the back throughout. He stayed on well enough but was never put in a position to challenge. Not the greatest of rides in truth.

We also backed Free As A Lark, 2pt win @ 4/1.
Said to have come on considerably for her last run she was well fancied by connections today.
She travelled well throughout but didn't get the best of runs with a couple of furlongs to go. However, she barged her way through a bit and led inside the final furlong until the post where she was caught and dead heated for second.
Annoyingly her stable mate was the winner at 25/1.

The other horse to dead heat for second, Captivator, looked particularly unlucky and is one to look out for next time out.

Elsewhere we would have had a maximum bet on Elshabakiya in the first at Leicester if the price had been better.
She is a very nice horse and although she could only manage second here (the winner looked potentially very decent) she will go on to win races.

Unlikely to be a bet tomorrow as the racing is very poor. However, the end of the week is looking very interesting already.

  1. I bet on Captivator and am still a bit disapointed about the result. Will all be forgotten if England can win the World Cup.

  2. You were definately unlucky there Fred.
It would be nice to say you will get your money back next time out but Matt Chapman on ATR told all the viewers how unlucky the horse was so you won't get a price.

Fingers crossed for England but the punting brain says Spain!
