An improving picture

Back from a good weekend at Epsom which started poorly and improved a great deal.

We have had five bets over the last two days.

On Friday we started off with Aviate, 2pt win @ 6/1 in the Oaks.
We were on her when she won bravely last month when she gave the impression she would stay the Oaks distance.
She was well supported into 7/2 and looked to be travelling well enough with 3 furlongs to run but failed to stay and dropped back from there. She will run over a mile and 2 furlongs next time out.

On Friday we also had Redwater River, 2pt e/w @ 6/1.
There was a good word for this runner that loves this time of the year. A big run was expected and he was supported down to 4/1 by the off.
Unfortunately he didn't read the script and reared in the stalls and came out about 10 lengths behind the rest of the field. He had no chance from there but ran a respectable race and may be of interest next time out.

On to Saturday where we had three account bets.

We started off with Jira, 1pt e/w @ 28/1.
This runner has continued to improve all season and ran much better that the bare form looked last time out in Rome where the ground was a distinct disadvantage.
He ran a good race and although never looking like winning he traded very short in the place market with a furlong to run. Unfortunately he faded from there and finished 6th.
Another one not to give up on though.

In the last race at Epsom we had a nice winner. Flipando, 1pt e/w @ 11/1.
Backed down to 9/1 at the off he was fancied to be suited by the expected fast pace with the plan to come though inside the last furlong and nail them late.
The race went exactly to plan and under a fine ride he got up close home to land the spoils. A nice winner and a good way to end the Derby meeting.

Finally we backed George Adamson, 3pt win @ 5/2 in the evening meeting at Newcastle.
Alans horses are now starting to run very well which is very good news for us and our subscribers as we have a lot to look forward to from that yard.
He won well last time out despite meeting trouble in running and was considered to still be well handicapped for this run.
Fortunately this was another race that went exactly to plan and we ended up with another nice winner. Another horse to keep on the right side of.

After a nasty start to the month we are now back into profit.

The next few days is looking fairly quiet as we will have to keep an eye on the weather. Lots of rain around and more forecast this week so there may be some strange results following the settled spell we have been used to.

Royal Ascot is the next major meeting, just around the corner. We have 3 bets lined up already for that meeting and hopefully the weather will be settled by the time that comes around.

  2. Hi JM,

    Many thanks for you comment.

Its been a tricky year for one reason or another - mainly because our main 3 or 4 stables have been quiet to date - but we feel we are getting there.

    Slowly but surely!

Good luck in your own quest.
