Difficult Saturday

Very tricky stuff today where we had just one small account bet, Benandonna 1pt e/w @ 28/1.
The plan was to try to get an easy lead but he didn't read the script and missed the break and was never better than mid division.
He looked to be travelling ok with 3 furlongs to run but found little.
A very small bet on a very tricky Saturday so fortunately not too much damage done overall.

Elsewhere we did well to leave well alone.

Fistral Beach was well fancied but jumped very poorly and never looked the winner.

There was a good word for both Shamwari Lodge and Azizi at Kempton but both were pretty short with horses fancied against them.
Shamwari Lodge won pretty well and Azizi looked the winner but was picked up close home and finished second.

On Good Friday we spent the day at a very wet Lambourn.
A great day out as it always is, despite the weather and we picked up lots of interesting bits and bobs.
Lots to look forward to over the next couple of weeks, if and when the weather starts to settle down a little. Until then, staking will be kept sensible.

We have a possible bet tomorrow. All will depend on the ground as it looks certain to be heavy everywhere.

Until then, thanks for reading.

  1. For the first time your service has dissapointed me, today you issued a bet in a 16 runner field hoping all 16 go to post, Tip ran like a 28/1 shot.

yet in the week we miss out on 2 winners because you did not want to issue a bet because of 7 runners, yet you could of gone win only, or even play on betfair to get the 3 places, I have no problem with you issuing free bets but when they are winning and the account bets are falling over, it needs to be looked at!

  2. Hi,

    Thanks for your comments.
You have a point with the free bets winning and the account bets not winning. It can clearly be frustrating.

We get lots of information each day and one of our tasks is to rank that information on what we feel is strongest and choose that for the account bets.

This week as far as results go we got it wrong.
It could be argued that if Molly Mylenis had broken level things would be different but we can't deal with ifs and you have a fair point.

We used to send round a 'bits and bobs' email covering things that weren't strong enough to be account bets but members decided they would rather just see the account bets.

It may be wise in the long run not to give out free bets and to only blog on nights where we have an account bet.

Just to cover another couple of points you have raised.

Yesterday we made the decision to play in a 16 runner race hoping all 16 go to post. That was partly for the each way money but also because connections genuinely believed they had a good chance of winning the race if they could get a lead.
It was a very speculative bet but we felt that 1pt e/w at that price was a decent bet.
As it was Dunn'o got the lead and almost managed to make all.

All 16 did go to post but a couple played up in the stalls meaning only 14 actually ran. As it was the places didn't matter to our bet.

We don't use Betfair as a suggested way of betting for members. This is because the prices are too volatile and it would be difficult for members to get the suggested price. Because of this we couldn'y have suggested a place only bet last week.

Thanks again for your comments. We are always striving to improve as a service and feedback helps us to do so.

    Regards
