Thats more like it!!

Much more like it today with 2 winners from 2 account bets and over 20 points profit.

First up we had a very confident account bet that we sent out to members at 6pm on Friday.
Miss Zooter, 5pt win @ 7/2 was a very confident pick after an extremely unlucky run just over two weeks ago when an account bet.
We blogged on the 7th July about how unlucky this horse was in running last time out when finishing 7th and we word was that she had improved further since then.
Always travelly well she went on to win the race quite comfortably. The result wasn't in doubt from 2 furlongs out as she was already trading 1.1 on Betfair at that time.

She will improve further for this win and if she makes another appearance this season is one to keep on the right side of.

Our second bet of the day was Common Touch, 3pt win @ 2/1.
One of the nicest two year olds in the yard we flagged this up as the yards best chance of a winner today.
When he missed the break and stumbled immediately after the gates opened we feared the it wasn't to be and he drifted markedly in running.
However, he soon picked up the idea of the game and showed great resolution to wear down Squires Gate inside the final furlong.
This was a fantastic performance for two reasons.
Firstly, the missed break and early trouble in running makes him value for much further than the half length winning margin.
Secondly, the runner up, Squires Gate is a very nice horse in his own right and was a strong account bet for us first time out. He was quietly fancied this morning after being given some time off after his last race.
Fortunately the word for Common Touch was much stronger and we made the right call.

Some fairly decent racing tomorrow and there is every chance there will be an account bet.

Glorious Goodwood starts on Tuesday and there is a lot to look forward to there.

Excellent Explorator

A good day for members today that could have been a fantastic one with a bit more luck.

We started with Miss Zooter, 2pt e/w @ 7/1.
Taking a drop back in trip and a downgrade in class, connections felt this one may have got into this race quite lightly.
She was well backed into 5/1 by the off . Things were spot on until they went in the stalls!
She missed the break and the official form line is "in rear, not clear run 1f out, switched right and ran on towards finish under a hand ride, not reached leaders"
In truth it was more like "not clear run for 7 furlongs"
Its hard to say she would definately have won with a clear run but she would have finished a lot closer.
Fortunately the Channel 4 commentary team didn't make too much of a big deal about how unlucky she was so we may get a price next time out.

Our second bet of the day landed a right old touch.
Explorator, 4pt win @ 3/1 was well backed all day.
Improvement was expected for his handicap debut, now he was stepped up to a more appropriate distance. Improvement certainly came.
He was held up at the back of the pack and niggled along slightly after 4 furlongs or so. He stayed on consistently well from there and hit the front with a furlong or so to go and drew away.
A comfortable winner, landing a nice touch, he returned at 11/8.

We have another one or two to look out for from George Baker's yard over the next week or so.
They really are one of the best yards in the land to land a touch.

Elsewhere there were good words for two or three other horses that we could have backed.
Two of these also didn't get the clearest of runs so we won't mention their names as they may well be account bets soon. One has an entry for the weekend.

There should be a bet tomorrow but thats not certain until we take a few calls in the morning.
