Very close to a decent winner again today.
We have 3 small account bets.
First up was Amadeus Denton, 1pt e/w @ 10/1 (B.O.G. returned 16/1)
We have been waiting for this one to run for a while now as he is showing all the right signs at home of being a decent prospect.
Connections were concerned by the potential bad draw but still fancied a place at minimum today.
He drifted before the off as many other horses were supported but was in the front rank from the off.
He made good progress on the outside inside the last 2 furlongs, hitting the front with a furlong to go.
A combination of running slightly green and being carried to the far rail by the eventual winner, Profile Star, meant our selection could only manage 2nd.
He traded odds on in running and although there was a stewards enquiry it was always unlikely he would be given the race.
Another frustrating run and that half a length he lost by would have made a huge difference to our month.
Our next 2 selections didn't run as well.
Our second bet of the day was Astrophysical Jet, 3pt win @ 3/1.
She is fancied to go on and be the big star of the sprinting scene this year and was expected to start the season in good style.
She went off an 11/4 chance but ran no race at all.
Its probably something went wrong and she may have finished lame as she will prove to be much better than this run.
Finally we had Legal Legacy, 2pt win @ 5/1.
This horse did us a few favours last season and put in a good run first time out this season despite not being fully fit.
He went off a 9/2 chance and was held up on the inside for the first half of the race.
He made some ground with 3 furlongs to run but it was clear to see that Imperial Djay was travelling ominously well. He went on to win the race well, showing the Ruth Carr yard are coming back to some form. (They also had a winner today in the shape of Dubai Dynamo)
So, a loss on the day and on the month.
It could have been a lot better with a bit more luck but 'could have beens' don't pay the bills.
Because we have had a poor run of late we will add a free month to any current members period when they renew.
Lots to look forward to in May and we are expecting to bounce back big time as the flat season gets fully underway.
Before we go it would be rude of us not to mention Frankel.
A stunning performance today. Possibly one of the finest performances we have seen for a while and we may not see better this season.
He may not stay the Derby distance and Henry has a decent alternative with World Domination but wherever Frankel runs next he will have plenty of people wanting to see him run.

One account bet for us today.
El Muqbil, 3pt win @ 5/2 was once thought of as a Derby prospect but didn't perform as expected last season.
He had wintered well and a big run was expected here.
He ran very poorly but was reported afterwards to have swallowed his tongue.
We will keep an eye on him for the future but he may be a horse that we wait until he wins before we follow him again.
One very interesting horse runs tomorrow.
World Domination goes in the 4.15. This one has been working with Frankel at home and the dogs have been barking about this for a long time.
Currently around 16/1 for the Derby, he will be interesting to watch.
One early account bet has been sent out to members for tomorrow.
We may well have another bet tomorrow as we are on course.

A much better day yesterday although we were made to wait for it.
We have three account bets, including Poet's Voice, advised at 16/1 on Thursday morning.
First up was Sunny Game, 2pt win @ 4/1.
It was thought this lightly weighted horse would relish the ground and the step up in trip and could be a bit better than his rivals.
He was dropped in at the rear of the pack but asked to make some progress with 3 furlongs to run. There wasn't a great deal of response in a race where the runners looked to be running in slow motion in the latter stages.
He plodded on but was never dangerous.
Second bet was Judicious, 3pt win @ 7/4. B.O.G. returned 9/4
This horse was another who was expected to relish the softer ground. He had been given a nice rest since his only run and had matured since then.
He was very disappointing, never looking the winner at any stage of the race.
The day was starting to take the all too familiar look of much of the last three weeks.
However, we had one bet to run.
Poet's Voice, 2pt e/w @ 16/1 was sent out to members on Thursday morning.
We knew Canford Cliffs was a very doubtful runner and needed to make the most of this opportunity before news got out.
An hour or so after our message the news broke that Canford Cliffs was a non runner and Poet's Voice was trading around 7/1.
The yard have spent a lot of time getting Poet's Voice to learn to settle more in his races and this looked a fantastic betting opportunity, especially for an each way bet.
He settled very well near the rear of the pack and Frankie started to bring him with a sustained run inside the last 2 furlongs.
He always looked like he was going to get there but left it until the very last moment, getting up by a nose on the line.
A fantastic ride from Frankie and, even though we are blowing our own trumpet here a little, some great information knowing Canford Cliffs wouldn't run - thus taking advantage of a market that was massively in our favour.
That nose victory turned our month around completely, pushing us back into a profit of 22 points for September.
Before we go, we must mention the amazing performance from Frankel.
Some will say he hasn't beaten very much to date but you can only beat what's in front of you and he has done this in most impressive style.
He looks every inch a Guineas winner in the making.
Just a word of warning though for those considering backing him for the Derby. Henry Cecil is far from certain that he will stay the Derby distance, making him poor value at 5/2 or so in our book.
A similar price for the Guineas though looks very fair.
It will probably continue to be fairly quiet this week.
It is a very tricky time of the year as the flat season approaches its end, with the ground looking quite changeable.
We will continue to pick our punches and stake sensibly.

Our second bet of Friday ran in the evening meeting at Newmarket in a very decent looking maiden race.
Frankel, 3pt win @ 6/4 (Best odds guaranteed paid 7/4)
We have been waiting for this one to run for a long time and flagged up in our message to members that he is a potential stable star.
We were slightly circumspect in our staking because of the heavy rain that had fallen and were slightly concerned with how soft the ground might become.
He always travelled well in behind the leaders and although slightly niggled along with half a mile to run he came through to win the race pretty easily, without being shown the whip at all.
The second horse home, Nathaniel, is also a horse held in very high regard at home. This was shown by the market support for him from 7/1 in to 3/1.
These two were 5 lengths clear of the 3rd home in what was a very hot race.
Keep an eye out for Frankel, this is a serious racehorse. He will only improve further once stepped up in trip and on a faster surface.
We are now just over 27 points in profit for August from just 8 account bets. Considering 3 of these 8 bets have been second, including one at 14/1, we have to be pleased with the month so far.
Lots of rain around again today.
There will probably a small account bet today but again, stakes will be sensible because of the going.
